Projects associated with Florida's leather industries, 1944- 1948.

This subseries consists primarily of records related to research on the production of tannins from Florida's scrub oak forests. This research was stimulated by shortages of leather tanning agents during World War II. The records contain data on the availability of scrub oak, its distribution, stand density, diameter ranges, and tannin content. Also included are records related to bark removal machinery, correspondence with other experiment stations and timber companies, and manuscripts to several articles.
